California Healthy Kids SurveyTop of Page

Promoting academic achievement among all students requires safe and drug-free schools and healthy, resilient youth. The California Department of Education proudly announces an important new service to help you meet these goals: the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), a comprehensive youth health and risk behavior data collection support system for school districts.

This survey is designed to be administered every two years. High school districts randomly select 9th and 11th grade students from every school to provide an adequate district sampling.
This customizable youth self-report data collection system that provides reliable information to schools, districts, and communities on youth health risks, assets, and behaviors. The real value of the Healthy Kids Survey is harnessed when the data are used as a catalyst for positive change within schools and communities.
