Magnet Program Choices

| | The East Side School-to-Careers System is designed to achieve several goals:
- to improve student achievement through the linking of academic and career-based studies
- to provide incentives for students to complete their education and make a seamless transition to postsecondary study
- to increase student entry into high skill, high-wage careers
- to facilitate the development of responsible attitudes, workplace habits, and a sense of personal self-management.
The system includes school-based learning activities that are connected to work-based learning activities and an emphasis on SCANS skills. | |

| | 2009 - 2010 Magnet Program Lottery The Magnet Program Lottery is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the E/F Conference Room located in the Education Center. Interested members of the community are welcome to view the proceedings. The names of the students selected for participation in the 2009-2010 Magnet Programs will not be made public until after the families have received their written notification during the week of April 20 - 24, 2009.
** Special Notice ** Due to the current budget crisis, there is the possibility that some or all of the Magnet Programs will not be in operation for the 2009-2010 academic year. A significant number of teachers associated with the district's Magnet Programs have received Reduction in Workforce notification and may not be employed by the district after June 30, 2009. If this scenario does become a reality, parents will be notified as quickly as possible.
