Data Director I -- Introduction

Training Description: Learn basic navigation of the data warehouse including how to access student data information; learn what information can be found; begin using the pre-built reports for site data. This is great if you've not used the system or if you just need a refresher.

Training Description:  See how this inexpensive tool can be added to each classroom to engage students and enhance current lessons with countless interactive applications. The InterWrite pad is especially suited for Algebra I, Geometry, CAHSEE support (CAHSEE funds can be used!), or At-Risk environments. Once you see the capabilities of this inexpensive tool, you'll want one for your teachers.

Data Director II -- Intermediate

Training Description: Customized report building and advanced student searching. Outcomes: Participants will learn how to use the advanced student search capabilities found in Data Director. Participants will also learn how to build customized reports and generate lists of students with multiple data points such as finding a list of students who took English 1, and listing their grade, CST score and benchmark assessment score

FRISK Documentation Model

Participants will review the steps of Progressive Discipline, learn documentation and file building techniques, study critical components of appropriate documentation, including what is legally sufficient disciplinary memoranda. Each participant will compose a FRISK document following the format and style demonstrated in the training.

Meeting Facilitation

Participants will reflect on meetings they attend, analyze characteristics of effective meetings, understand the components of leading successful meetings, deepen knowledge of effective meeting facilitation practices, learn strategies for handling disruptive behaviors at meetings and practice meeting facilitation utilizing the skills presented a the training.

Courageous Leadership Skills to Implement Principles of Equity

What got you here! Won't get you there! Developing courageous leadership skills to implement the key principles of Equity! The workshop session will provide the key components of courageous leadership to close the achievement gap. In addition, the workshop session will have the participants use student voice data to develop culturally conscious lessons and instruction. Lastly, the participants will be shown how to develop and use an implementation rubric to evaluate school wide initiatives.

Equity in the Classroom--Teacher Expectations and Student Achievement (TESA)
12:30p.m.  to 2:30p.m.
The training will be a 2-hour overview of the TESA program, focusing on promoting teacher/staff behaviors that create equity in the classroom. Educational staff, by their equitable treatment of students in the three areas of questioning, feedback, and personal regard, can transmit to students the feeling that they can succeed. In classrooms with TESA trained teachers, research shows, academic performance improves and the achievement gap between ethnic groups narrows. Outcomes: Participants will learn that TESA is a program of behavioral change that encourages staff to interact equitably will ALL students.

Special Services will provide site administrators with the most up to date best practices for all issues pertaining to students with special needs. Addionally, time will be allocated for administrators to have the opportunity to ask questions about all issues surrounding students with special needs. AB490: Calif. Foster Youth Education Laws--Meeting the Education Needs of Students in Foster Care
12:30p.m. to 2:00p.m.
This training will provide a comprehensive perspective on the role and responsibilities of school personnel with regards to the educational and school placement decisions for foster youth. Ed. Code 48850(a) and Assembly Bill 490 will be used as the foundation for the discussion of enrollment procedures, attendance questions, grades and credits, and the laws pertaining to all educational and school placement decisions for foster youth.

Learn to host and participate in a Web/Voice Conference. With the cost of transportation increasing, virtual meetings will be a good option. Expellable Offenses: A Frank Discussion + Discipline Atom! 
8:30a.m. to 2:30p.m. (Lunch is included)
PART I: The purpose of the training is to review and reinforce the need for a legal expulsion and the appropriate recommendations needed in writing for APAs. Participants will become familiar with Education Code and district policies pertaining to suspensions and expulsions; the appropriate format for the presentation of the expellable offense, and the mandatory items needed for the completion of the expulsion process. Outcomes: Receive all paperwork for expulsions; receive written processes, policies, definitions needed for the completion of an expulsion packet; master the expulsion process and know how to complete all mandated paperwork; share best practices. PART II: Learn the Discipline Atom (which will replace the scanning of referrals.

EL Master Plan/SDAIE Observation Tool

Review the EL Master Plan and the CPM requirements in preparation for the fall visitation from the state. Outcomes: Participants will be updated on strategies to improve services to ELs (EL instructional program, ELD curriculum, Pacing Guides and Assessment, SDAIE strategies, Federal law, reclassification follow up, and the use of paraeducators, etc).

Microsoft Office in the Educational Environment for East Side Employees---Intermediate
Do you want to be more productive in your classroom or office? Learn to become more proficient in a collection of software programs known as the Office Suite. These courses are held in a PC lab. A textbook including an instructional CD is available for sale in the IAC campus bookstore for $18.50 per course. Courses are designed to build skills for Microsoft Certification (Optional). Prerequisite: These courses assume a basic understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Word. You may register for one, two, or all courses.
