Overview
| | The East Side Telecommunications Group was created in 1998 to operate, administer and maintain the District’s telecommunications system, including broadband facilities. Responsibility for the Emergency Public Address, bell and clock systems was added in 2000.
The Telecommunications Group provides telecommunications services that encompass: - 18 locations
- over 9200 telephone and voice mail boxes
- 45,000 calls per day
- numeric pager service for 43 district users
- cell phone service for 105 district users
- 8 coin pay telephone booths at 3 district locations
- video conferencing services at all district campuses except Evergreen Valley High School
- 15 Campus Emergency Public Address systems
- 14 bell systems
- 14 clock systems
- 500,000 miles of cable facilities (installation, repair and administration of the telecommunications wire plant)
- installation, repair and administration of the District's broadband facilities (1.5444 Mbps or higher), using fiber optic and CAT5/6 copper cables
The East Side Telecommunications system’s 15 NEC NEAX 2400IPX switching systems and three Digital Remote Units have not had an unplanned service interruption since March 1999. The district uses the California Department of General Services CALNET contract to provide the inter-nodal and public telephone system facilities and services necessary for data network and telephone system operation. These facilities and services represent an annual recurring expense of 1.1million dollars ($318,947.40 for voice services and $787,119.60 for data services).
