| Alan Garofalo has been with East Side Union High School District since 1974. At Yerba Buena High School, he was an English and Social Science teacher, a swimming and water polo coach, Department Chair, and student advisor. At Oak Grove High School, he was Student Advisor, Assistant Principal, and Director/Principal. In 2001-02 he was the District’s Director of Construction, supervising the building of Evergreen Valley High School. In 2002-03, he was Director of Facilities and Bond Management. In 2004 he became Assistant Superintendent of Operations. Mr. Garofalo has served on many district committees, including Contract Negotiator for East Side Union High School District; District Safety Committee; Political Action Committee; School Site Council for Evergreen Valley High School; District Representative for CBOC – Measure G Bond. Mr. Garofalo attended University of the Pacific, where he earned a B.A. in Sociology (1973), the California Clear Secondary Teaching Credential (1974), a K-12 Administrative Credential (1977), and a M.A. in Educational Administration and Supervision (1977). In 1998, he attended the IBM Advanced Business Institute in Palisades, New York. He has 15 years General Contracting experience and is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, ACSA, NEA and CTA professional organizations. He is a former president of the San Jose Civic Club, and belongs to various civic and social organizations. Mr. Garofalo’s hobbies include reading, freshwater and trout fishing, and classic automobiles. His wife Lynn teaches 4th grade. Their son Brian attends college in Southern California. | |
