Eddie is serving his first term as President of the Board of Trustees for the East Side Union High School District.  He has worked in business, education, politics, and with community-based organizations for over 25 years, and is a native of San Jose's east side, a graduate of Alum Rock Union School District schools, James Lick High School, and San Jose State University.  At SJSU, Eddie earned a place on the Dean's list in the History Department.  Eddie is married to Sandra Peralta, a Principal in the Alum Rock Union School District.  Eddie and Sandra have two daughters: Marisa and Erica.
 
Currently, Eddie is Chief of Staff for Supervisor George Shirakawa, who represents the 2nd District on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.  He manages the staff and operations of the 2nd District office, and serves as chief political and public policy strategist for Supervisor Shirakawa. 
 
Prior to his current position in public service, Eddie was the Vice President of Government Affairs for Comcast Communications.  He developed Comcast’s government affairs initiatives, maintained corporate communications with Members of Congress, State Legislators, and local elected officials, and managed a team of local government affairs directors located throughout Northern and Central California.  He was a member of the Comcast Executive Leadership Forum and served on the California Cable and Telecommunications Association Board of Directors. 
 
During the 1980's, Eddie coached the 6th grade basketball team at Most Holy Trinity Parochial School and the boys’ frosh-soph team at William C. Overfelt High School.  He subsequently served two years as the Head Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach at James Lick High School and two years as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at San Jose City College.
 
Eddie has also served the community on the boards of several non-profit organizations such as City Year Silicon Valley and the San Jose Sports Authority.  From 2005 to 2007, he served as Chairman of the Board of the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose.  He is a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum of Silicon Valley, and a Member Emeritus of the San Francisco 49ers Community Advisory Panel.   
 
In 2007, the Mexican American Community Services Agency and San Jose Magazine named Eddie as one of the 10 most influential Latino business leaders in Silicon Valley, and the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and San Francisco Business Times selected him as one of the 25 most influential Latinos in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The NAACP-Silicon Valley chapter honored him with its Freedom Fighter Award in 2008.
